2011 & 2012 at York Cocoa House - Back when it all began

Jan 01, 2013Sophie Jewett

We've been looking back at our old pictures of when we first discovered the building that would become our little Cocoa House, we thought we'd share them with you so you can see how we've been growing over the last few years. It's very strange looking back and remembering those early days, I was still making chocolates in my own kitchen, we had a couple of staff who had been on a work experience placement with us and Michelle worked for someone else and would with much dedication come and paint and clean at weekends, days off and evenings, until eventually, 3 weeks later we'd pulled it all together in time to get open the first day of the St Nicholas Christmas Fair. That team are still part of our Cocoa House family, still each Christmas when they join us, now in their University holiday's, we still laugh about that first day we opened.

Will keep pinning to our Pinterest boards as we discover them!

Our original Cocoa House beautifully illustrated by one of our customers
The original artwork was inspired by a 1920's/Rennie Mackintosh feel from the days of the first chocolate bars known as the Golden Age of Confectionery
Just some of the vast collection of York Chocolate boxes that were gifted to us to look after.
